Sleeping on Clouds (Ode to Somnium Revisited)
You wouldn't know how much my writing is influenced by music.
How I seek to structure it in a similar fashion -- as a wave of substance reaching for the emotions.
So now I think back to my constant dream, where I'm reaching for the stars.
On the trip half-way, we stop to rest on a gathering of clouds.
Heart filled with love and peace I silently sleep atop the cloud dreaming.
Music pervades my mind in forms of do-re-mi, and for an instant I am free.
Slowly we begin to wake up, with each waking moment the clouds dissipate
Out of illusory sublime I fall through the vaporized cloud and fall back to earth.
It thus survives in constant repetition, an endless cycle of dreaming and falling
embodied by fierce crescendos that gradually fall back into contemplative silence.
I hear Angels sing in my sleep, and I swim in music as one would with water.
Thats why I continue to dream, despite my harsh fall upon our present reality.
A cosmic lullaby forced by the greater hand that directs the symphony of our lives
It is the dreams that shape our path when we get back to reality's track.
For me, dreams are the fuel that allow us to drive us toward our future.
