If you are near the El Paso/JZ area I encourage you to try something new tonight. If you write poetry or prose, play music, or just plain want to express yourself, I want to let you know about THE BARBED WIRE OPEN MIC SERIES! This is an event that happens the last saturday of every month at The Percolator Cafe (217 N. Stanton)

Here is a little blurb from the BWOMS Facebook page:

"The BWOMS is a multilingual event that celebrates free speech through the art, and that allows community members a platform from which they can express their poetic perspectives and unique voices. Whether you come to perform, or to just enjoy the art, its FREE and fun for everybody!

Anyone can perform any type of artistic expression at this event. This includes poetry, freestyle rap, music, comedy, drama, prose, visual art, or any other type creative expression. It's basically a variety show that features the people of our community."
