I've Got The Chills

(but they're not multiplying)
[or are they?]
{stay tuned.}

Stanton Street Collective Drum Circle 2010: Echoes in the Park

Hello World!
Its another....Sunday!
Another day
another post!

This has truly been one of the most interesting months in recent memory. Aside from the N0 Shave November hoopla, I've really kept myself busy. As it gets colder, things have been heating up. But enough of that, lets talk about things going on.

My roommate and I hope to start a new blog during the Winter break focused on reviews of cultural hotspots. EP Beats and Eats. Pretty self explanatory. Hopefully we stay true to that.

I can't believe I'll be graduating with my Master's degree already, it sure did move fast. In preparation for my final paper I ordered quite a few books on Amazon; I'm really excited about them in the nerdiest way possible.

Argh, I have to get back to work soon. THIS is waiting for me.

Last couple of notes:

-- Stanton Street Collective played a successful gig at the Thai Temple in celebration of Loi Krathong (Festival of Lights).

-- Recently ranked the safest big city in the U.S. my hometown is neighbor (and sister city) to one of the most violent and dangerous cities in the world. Visceral reminders of the violence, corruption, the drug cartels, the terrible problem of femicides, and the constant fear have weighed too heavily in my heart and I have now actively begun taking part in protests for Peace and Justice alongside the EP/Jz communities. I have been protesting downtown the last few weeks of the month and we are working hard to unite all of the groups around El Paso and Juarez for large protest in Jan. (stay tuned for more info.)

-- The Beatles are on iTunes now....what!?!?! Haha, okay that was sarcastic. Some of my students expressed their disappointment that THIS was iTunes big announcement earlier this month. Alas, I still love you, the beatles....(even if you kind of continue to sell out).
Stay cool guys, stay cool..

- Lastly, I hope to receive a Women's Studies certificate upon graduation. This is really important to me and I'm willing to take some extra classes to fulfill the requirements. Aside from the femicides in Juarez and other inequalities throughout the world because of gender, I am also interested in re-defining masculinity. Take for example my friend over here, "El Valiente."

Thats it for now, folks!
Keep checking for future updates.

Best,

RDM

Ciao
